Foxes

Fox is a common name for many species of omnivorous mammals belonging to the Canidae family. Foxes are small to medium-sized canids (slightly smaller than a medium-sized domestic dog), characterized by possessing a long narrow snout, and a bushy tail (or brush). Members of about 37 species are referred to as foxes, of which only 12 species actually belong to the Vulpes genus of "true foxes". By far the most common and widespread species of fox is the red fox (Vulpes vulpes), although various species are found on almost every continent. The presence of fox-like carnivores all over the globe, together with their widespread reputation for cunning, has contributed to their appearance in popular culture and folklore in many societies around the world.

Winter

This postcard reminds me of my childhood. But even today sometimes ponds and lakes freeze in winter so that people can go ice-skating and playing ice-hockey. In addition to this interesting postcard I received many beautiful Belgian stamps. Thanks a lot.

BELGIUM - CITIES

Lommel

Lommel is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg. On the postcard you can see an old windmill and a Teuten statue. This small monument for the "Lommel Teut" shows a travelling merchant in copper materials from earlier times. Leyssens Mill offers monthly guided tours explaining the process of grain grinding.

Antwerp

Antwerp is a city and municipality in Belgium and the capital of the Antwerp province of Flanders. It is located on the right (eastern) bank of the river Scheldt, which is linked to the North Sea by the estuary Westerschelde. The city has one of the largest seaports in Europe. The Cathedral of Our Lady is a Roman Catholic cathedral. Where the cathedral now stands, there was a small chapel of Our Lady from the 9th to the 12th century. In 1352, construction was begun on a new Our Lady’s church which would become the largest Gothic church in the Netherlands.
