Milano
Milan is the second-largest city in Italy and the capital of Lombardy as well as of the province of Milan. The Gothic
cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete. It is the fourth largest
cathedral in the world
and the largest in the Italian state territory. The plan consists of a nave with four
side-aisles, crossed by a transept
and then followed by choir and apse. The height of the nave is about 45 meters. The roof is open to tourists (for a fee), which allows many a close-up view
of some spectacular sculpture that would otherwise be unappreciated. The roof of
the cathedral is renowned for the forest of openwork pinnacles and spires, set upon delicate flying
buttresses.

Roma - Piazza Navona
Piazza Navona is a city square in Rome, Italy. It is
built on the site of the Stadium of Domitian, built in 1st century
AD, and follows the form of the open space of the stadium. The ancient Romans came there to watch the agones ("games"), and hence it
was known as 'Circus Agonalis' (competition arena). It is believed that over
time the name changed to 'in agone' to 'navone' and eventually to 'navona'. The Fontana del Nettuno (Fountain of Neptune) was once called
"Fontana dei Calderari" because it was located close to a small alley with
blacksmith's workshops, makers of pots and pans and of other metal based
businesses, all of them generating heat.

Napoli
Naples is the capital of Campania and the third-largest city in
Italy, after Rome and Milan. It is one of the oldest continuously
inhabited cities in the world. Greek settlements were established on the island of Megaride in
the Gulf of Naples as
early as the 9th century BC. Guglia di San Gennaro (on the postcard) - dedicated to the patron saint of the city, who, it is said, saved Naples from
the volcanic eruption in 1631, was designed by Cosimo Fanzano during the second
half of the 17th century and it was completed in 1660. Near the Duomo, in the
piazza Riario Sforza, where until the first half of the XIV century was a bronze
horse dedicated to Neptune, stands the most ancient spire of the city. An
example of the baroque style, it has a rich decoration at its base with siren
volutes and long volutes ending with a Ionic capital that supports the bronze
statue of the saint by Tommaso Montani.
