Groningen
It is the main municipality as well as the capital city of the eponymous
province in the Netherlands. With a population of around 190,000,
it is the largest city in the north of the Netherlands. Groningen is a
university city, inhabited on average by about 37,000 students. Groningen has its own city theatre (Stadsschouwburg), located on the
Turfsingel (on the postcard).

Duiven
It is a municipality and a town
in the eastern Netherlands.
Duiven's name can be translated into English to mean "pigeons" or "doves".
Although the coat of arms and logo of the municipality feature pigeons, the name
is etymologically related to "dunes" (Dutch: duinen).

Soest
It is a municipality and a town
in the central Netherlands, in
the province of Utrecht. The oldest documents mentioning Soest (then written as Zoys) date from
1029. Its oldest church (the Oude Kerk, meaning Old Church), which
is still in use today, dates from the fifteenth century. Medieval agricultural activity is still visible as there is much farmland within Soest.

Goes
It is a municipality and a city in the southwestern Netherlands in Zuid-Beveland, in the province Zeeland. Goes was founded in the 10th century on the edge of a river: de Korte Gos (the
Short Gos). The village grew fast and in the early 12th century it had a market
square and a church devoted to Maria. In 1405 Goes received city rights, and in 1417 it was
allowed to build walls around the city.

Leeuwarden
It is the capital city of the
Dutch province of Friesland. It is situated in the
northern part of the country. Well-known buildings in the city centre include the Kanselarij (the
former chancellery), the Stadhouderlijk hof, former residence of the
stadtholders of Friesland, the Waag (old trade centre of the city), the
church of St. Bonifatius and the leaning tower Oldehove. The tallest building in the city
is the 115 metre tall Achmeatoren (Achmea insurance tower). Leeuwarden is also the site of the country's largest cattle market, and on Ascension
Day, the largest flower market in the Netherlands is held here.
