MOLDOVA - CITYVIEWS

Tiraspol

Tiraspol is the second largest city in Moldova. The city is located on the eastern bank of the Dniester River. On the opposite side of the central square, a monument plaza features a Soviet T-34 tank, commemorating the Soviet victory in World War II, an eternal flame to those who fell defending the city in 1941 and liberating it in 1944. The modern city of Tiraspol was founded by the Russian generalissimo Alexander Suvorov in 1792, although the area had been inhabited for thousands of years by varying ethnic groups.

Beautiful stamps.
